Landon is 14 Months old!!
I think he is officially all toddler now and no more baby, which makes me kind of sad :( I had to take him back to the doctor this week to get his 2nd flu shot and also to have his blood drawn so they could retest his iron levels (traumatic, but they're up to normal so no more iron supplement drops!!) They weighed him with his clothes on, but he came out at 25 lbs. 15 oz! He's been busy growing the past 2 months!
We weren't able to take his 14 month pictures on his 14 month birthday because we sadly aren't with him! He's staying with my parents for a few days while we go to a wedding that Kyle is in and then take a little 2 day marriage retreat/early 5 year anniversary getaway. We're excited for time together but certainly missing our little boy :(
So we had to take Landon's 14 months pictures early on Thursday. Unfortunately, here's how Landon felt about taking posed pictures that day:
Not.Happy.
So here's the "best" I could get with his 14 Months sign:
Fail, Landon. Totally doesn't count. So we had to go the cheating route and insert text into a picture that he was willing to take earlier in the day.
| Why can't you smile like this with a piece of paper next to you?! |
Then I made matters worse when I tried to take a picture of me kissing him.
| "Mooooooooooom!" |
Oh well. Maybe we'll try some posed with the sign shots again next week.
So what's this 14 month old boy doing when he's not refusing to pose for pictures? More than ever!
This boy is BUSY! When he is awake, he is rarely sitting still. He has truly mastered walking now and never crawls, unless he's being silly or crawling to a stationary object to pull himself back up. He's also getting fairly close to running, although he frequently stumbles over his own feet as his mind gets ahead of his foot coordination. Doesn't stop him from trying though!
Landon's vocabulary unfortunately is not increasing much; he seems to refuse to say words no matter how many times we repeat them and get him to try. So he's stuck on "MaMa" and "DaDa" of course, still saying "Uh Oh" and his latest expression is "Oh yeah!" That one he says with multiple different voice inflections and expressions; I think he really understands why he's saying it! Now if only he would say something normal like dog, or ball, or car. (But I must admit the "oh yeah" is beyond cute)
Landon also L.O.V.E.S. to sleep.
He goes to bed between 8-8:30 p.m. on average and sleeps until around 8-8:30 a.m., sometimes even as late as 9! Then he's awake for about 2 hours in the morning, goes down for a nap for about 2 hours, is up for another 2 hours, and then back down for another nap. Now that it's getting dark so early, sometimes his afternoon nap is 2 1/2 hours+, meaning he'll sometimes sleep till 5:45 or 6, only to wake up and then go back to bed a couple of hours later! Must be a growth spurt. But I'll take it for as loooooong as possible; definitely ups my productivity!
Landon still loves to eat, although he unfortunately is starting to become a little more picky. Maybe "picky" isn't the right word, more like stubborn. If he doesn't feel like eating something, it's getting impossible to force him. Unfortunately it's usually the vegetables that he doesn't want to eat. Overall he's still a great eater though, so no complaints here.
Tooth #5 is on it's way! I can see a little bump where another bottom tooth is getting ready to make an appearance.
When Landon is playing, his favorite things (other than running aimlessly around) are:
* Looking at books (his fav right now - YES!)
* Breaking into the bathroom to pull out all his bath toys all over the house (when we accidentally leave the door open)
* Playing with any of his toys that make noise (oh joy!)
* Carrying Puppy by the snout in his mouth (looks like a lioness with her little lion cub)
* Playing the piano
But by FAR, Landon's most recent obsession is watching a cartoon. Not just any movie or cartoon, most cartoons he'll only pay attention to for about 30 seconds at a time. But for some reason he is obsessed with the movie "Gnomeo and Juliet"
We randomly turned it on one time on Netflix (we only have the online streaming one so the options of movies are somewhat more limited, but we don't have cable so it's better than nothing!) and he was suddenly enraptured. I seriously think he would sit and watch the entire movie at one time (haven't tried that yet, he usually only gets to watch 20 minutes or so max at a time, usually shorter). If he's ever being whiny, all we have to do is turn it on and he'll sit quietly on our laps watching every minute, mostly blankly staring but sometimes smiling, sometimes laughing, sometimes looking up at us and smiling like, "Did you see that part Dad? Hilarious!" It is *so* funny.
There's our 14 Month recap! We love you so much our big boy!

Tracy, he is seriously SO cute! I love that little face of his!
Giada and him have about the same sleep schedule :-)
Except, she's starting to make that second afternoon nap a lot shorter nowadays, which I'm not a huge fan of. But as long as she sleeps longer in the mornings I'm ok with it :-)
