Yes, I'm running way behind with this post. Life has been busy busy busy with my two very busy children! But last week Layla turned 8 months old!
Look how big she's getting!
Month #7 was full of developmental milestones for Layla, and so was month #8!
She's officially crawling now and is all over the house. The other day Landon was back in his room taking a nap and I was in the kitchen doing dishes. I leaned out to check on Layla and saw she was all the way down the hall and had pushed Landon's door open. Thankfully I caught her before he woke up, but Layla sure looked pleased with herself.
Her latest hobby is pulling herself up to stand.
Lately Layla has been crawling over to the kitchen gate and pulling herself up on her knees to watch what's going on in the kitchen.
Tonight I was making dinner and looked over to see Layla standing up holding onto the gate yelling at me. She's so proud of herself to be able to stand up but she's not great at getting back down so she falls and bonks her head a lot, which she is NOT a fan of.
My sweet girl has also started saying some syllables. I'm especially pleased that she has started saying "Ma Ma!" She has yet to say "Da Da" so I won with Layla (Landon said DaDa for at least a month before he said MaMa).
I'm pleased to report that Layla has continued sleeping through the night for the most part. Every now and then she wakes up and I have to go in and give her a pacifier a couple of times, but she typically sleeps all night. She either wakes up at 5-5:30 and eats, then goes back to sleep for a couple more hours, or she sleeps until 7ish and wakes up for good. She is still not a very good napper though; she typically only sleeps for 45 min to 1 hour at a time...sometimes she'll take a really good nap for 1.5-2 hours a few times a week. She takes either 2 or 3 naps a day, depending on how well she naps (and if she'll fall asleep for a 3rd nap). She makes me realize how spoiled I got by Landon's incredible sleeping habits.
She's such a happy morning girl. She plays with toys, crawls around to try to find fun things on the floor, talks and squeals with delight. She doesn't really like playing in the jumperoo all that much because she likes to be free to crawl around wherever she wants.
Layla has some interesting favorite things. She loves to crawl and play underneath the dining table for some reason.
Her other favorite thing is her socks. She likes to pull of her socks and chew on them, or even if she just finds her socks lying on the ground she will pick them up and carry them around in her mouth like a little puppy.
It's so cute and so hilarious. It makes her so happy!
Layla also looooooves bathtime. Since she has such good balance sitting up I've just started letting her sit in the bath tub for baths instead of in her little bath chair, and she just loves it. She loves to splash in the water and chew on little bath toys.
The only downsides in Layla's life right now involve her willingness to stay with babysitters...she's becoming a pretty clingy Mama's girl recently, and she also does not really like evenings very much, so that makes leaving her with a babysitter for date nights a little rough. We still do it though so she'd better learn to be happy :)
Aside from her dislike of evenings, Layla is always smiling, and such a sweet, happy girl. I love my little Layla Love so much!
And here's a comparison of Landon & Layla at 8 months!
