Layla - 16 Months

Wow, it's sad that I haven't updated since Layla's last monthly update. Oopsie. Life has been a little more than crazy the past month, being down in Gulf Shores, then Wichita, then Manhattan, then KC, then Des Moines, then Chicago, then back to KC, and now we have just a few short days left till we board a plane for India. Phew!

But, amidst all the craziness, didn't want to neglect to update on what Layla's doing this month.

Layla has become quite the little lady this month. She loves to carry purses (or anything with a handle that she can loop on her arm) and put on necklaces or bracelets. We're still working on growing enough hair to clip bows in or put in a ponytail, but she's getting closer! She also loooves to go shopping :)

Layla is wearing mostly 18 month clothes but also some 24 month ones because she's so tall! She had her 15 month doctor check up a little late since we had to wait till we were in Manhattan for a day, so at 15.5 months she was 32 inches long (86th percentile) and was 23 lbs. 14 oz. (62nd percentile). She had grown over two inches and gained 3 pounds since her one year appt!

Little Love is getting really close to running, and she's also starting to talk already! She'll try to repeat a lot of things that you ask her to, and she can very clearly say dog, hi, nite nite, bye, apple, car, ball, cat, and I'm pretty sure she says "what's that?"

Layla LOVES to look at books right now. She especially likes the Pride and Prejudice board book that my mom got for her. That's my girl ;) She's still a little water bug and loves to go swimming.

She still loves giving big kisses and also is getting better at laying her head down on my shoulder to give hugs. Unfortunately my little sweetie is also still a little dramatic and has a little bit of a temper. When she's told no or doesn't get what she wants, she arches her back and kicks her legs and sometimes lays on the ground. She also looks for anything that's lying around on the ground and throws it. Seriously, if there's toys around, or clothes, or shoes, or whatever, she walks over and picks them up, and then throws them. It's actually kind of hard not to laugh because it's really funny, minus the fact that her sinful nature is showing through her anger. But she's sure darn cute :)
