Last week we had a very special addition to our India Family...Kyle's mom (aka Nana) came to visit us for a week!
After some craziness with her flights and a few extra hours spent in Dubai, Nana made it here all in one piece.
Nana arrived just in time to celebrate Diwali, one of the biggest festivals in India. It's the Festival of Lights, so of course they shoot off fireworks at night(for about 5 nights in a row). But don't picture Fourth of July with your family in the backyard; picture lighting off bombs and the kind of fireworks that they shoot off in the real fireworks shows. Of course all the team came over so we could shoot off some firecrackers from our roof!

We had tons of fun with Nana here. Of course Landon and Layla got completely spoiled by all of her love and attention...and presents.
She (and Great Grandma and Great Aunt Cheryl) bought them the big kitchen from the toy store!!! They have played with that thing non stop, and it's been so fun.
We took Nana to see lots of our favorite places - to Mrs. Magpie's cupcake shop, to FabIndia and Gariahat Market for shopping, to our favorite mall where she experienced Indian KFC (100,000 times better than American KFC), and of course we took her to our favorite Indian restaurant to get some real Indian food. She even ate a Khati roll from our favorite local roadside stand!
Unfortunately, I realized how few pictures I actually have on my phone, because we took most of them on her phone!
When it was time for her to leave Sunday afternoon, we were all really sad :( It was fun to have her here to visit but a bummer to have to say goodbye again!
We love you, Nana! Thanks for coming to see us!

How much fun that she was able to visit and see your family for a little while. I so wish there was a way for me to come out there to meet you and experience India. The holiday looks like a lot of fun and a lot more dangerous than 4th of July =)
