I seriously just can't even handle this. My first baby is FIVE years old!! I really just don't even know how time could have flown by so quickly. I'm pretty sure that no chunk of five years of my life has ever gone so quickly before. That's what parenthood will do to you, I suppose.
But here we are, parents of a five year old.
And a pretty stinkin' cute one at that.
Landon has just grown up into such a little boy. I'm not quite sure how to sum up a year of his life/development, so I'll just bullet point some facts about Landon right now.
* He has very "well-rounded" interests. He loves music - he loves to sing and has great pitch actually. He catches onto songs really quickly and remembers them well. He also loves anything sports - kicking a soccer ball, hitting the baseball, playing with his toy golf set or bowling set. And he's actually has pretty legitimately good hand/eye or foot/eye coordination (I know I'm a biased mom, but still). He likes to paint. And he also loves to play the iPad :)
* His #1 obsession right now is Dude Perfect. They're a YouTube group that makes videos doing trick shots, and Landon loves them. He watches the videos all the time, then recreates the shots and has even memorized a lot of their narratives to go along with it. It's so hilarious.
* Landon is not horribly picky, but a slightly picky eater. He would gladly live off of PB&J sandwiches, but when we sit down to dinner a lot of nights it's a battle to get him to eat everything, even though it's food he should in theory like. His favorite actual meal right now: baked chimichangas.
* Layla and Landon actually play decently together nowadays. Of course typically it somehow ends with Landon hurting Layla in some manner, but they have a lot of fun together. Landon is also increasingly loving on Mason and goes out of his way to talk to him. He's becoming such a good big brother!
* One of my biggest fears about going back to the US after being in India is that Landon will be behind starting school. Who knows if that will be the case, but he does know all of his letters and numbers, can trace them really well and can free hand writing alright. He just doesn't really like to do it too much right now.
* He is a master negotiator (he gets this from his father). He's constantly trying to negotiate a deal to get what he wants or out of what he doesn't want. Of course, we don't let him win usually, but he sure does try.
* He has a really sweet, tender heart. He still loves to snuggle up next to you when watching a movie, especially after he first wakes up. He can be such a sweetheart.
I sure love this boy oh so much! Here's a little sampling of Landon lately :)

And it probably wouldn't be a proper birthday post if I didn't include a picture from his day of birth - my sweet firstborn!
Love you Landon! You'll always be my first baby!!
