Layla - One Month

How how HOW can a month have already gone by since my sweet little love was born? I'm in major denial today here, folks. I just can't believe she's been here for a month already. I kind of just want to cry about it, because time is going by WAY too quickly. I know this because my sweet little boy who just yesterday was a newborn in my arms is now a crazy 18 month old. And Layla will follow behind all too quickly! *insert nose blowing*

But let's move on and celebrate my one month old Little Beauty!

Unfortunately our pediatrician is out of the office this week, so we don't have her one month checkup till next Wednesday, so her stats will be a bit delayed. However, she's wearing size 1 diapers, and has started to get too long for most of her newborn clothes (sad again!) so she's wearing mostly 0-3 month clothes now. So I'm anticipating she's grown in length quite a bit!

Layla is such a wonderful newborn. I'll admit I was nervous before she was born, because Landon was SUCH an easy baby, I was really afraid that if Layla was even just normal as far as easiness goes, that it would seem like a stark contrast compared to Landon. But she's been such a gem! 

* She's a super fast eater. We're talking the longest she takes to actually eat is about 8 minutes total. Obviously there's time added in for burping and changing of the diaper, etc. but I'm totally great with her fast eating time since I know she's growing!

* She's also been a great sleeper - not quite as good of a napper as Landon was, but way better sleeping at night than he was. Last night she decided to celebrate the day of her 1 month birthday by eating at 10 p.m. and going to sleep then not getting up until 3:45 to eat again. Then I had to wake her up at 8:45 to feed her before staff meeting. Bless you Layla.  She naps well during the day except she just tends to stir quite a bit so sometimes wakes herself up earlier than she should and thinks she needs to eat earlier than 3 hours. But since she's stretching her feedings at night I'm ok letting her eat closer together during the day if she wants to.

* She's such a great eater that when she tried drinking from a bottle for the first time about a week ago, she didn't hesitate for a second. I guess my kids just really like to eat.

* She's such a cuddlebug! We both would just hold her nonstop if we could, and she would gladly let us.

* Layla gets the hiccups all.the.time. I mean, all the time. Like, averaging 4 times a day. And whoever said that hiccups don't bother babies clearly never met Layla, because when she gets the hiccups, she freaks out. They clearly distress her. Which then just makes them worse, so it's a vicious cycle. She pretty much has to be held to get calmed down enough for her hiccups to go away. Maybe I'll catch this on video someday, because it is actually kind of funny.

* This girl also has some seriously strong neck muscles. She can hold her little head up for remarkable lengths of time.

* Layla is also very chill and puts up with a lot. Like, all the screaming of her brother while she's trying to sleep, or his increased interest in her which has resulted in increased touching of her (not so gently, I might add. Working on that one)

* She also is kind enough to put up with my need to put hair bows on her all the time. She takes it all in stride, even when they become eye masks.

* I'm pretty proud of my little girl.

Little Love, this first month has gone by way too quickly!! Your Daddy and I just love having you in our lives and can't imagine if you weren't here with us. We're so grateful you were in God's plan for us. Happy One Month birthday; we love you sweet Layla!
