Layla - Three Months

Three months ago I was sitting in a hospital bed holding the most beautiful baby girl.
Now here we are, three months later, with this beautiful, smiley girl on our hands!

I know I sound like a broken record, but I simply cannot believe that three months have flown by already. Wasn't I just ginormous pregnant like a couple of weeks ago?! But wow have we sure loved these past three months with Layla! I'm constantly thanking God that His plans prevail over ours, because I just can't imagine my life without my Little Beauty.
Layla has lots going on at the ripe old age of 3 months. I have no idea how much she weighs or how long she is, but I do know that she's almost ready to outgrow her size 1-2 diapers (I have one pack left that we brought with us and then we'll buy her some 2's) and she's so long that she's outgrowing a lot of her 3 month sized clothes. All of her 3 month sized jammies are too short for her now so she's already wearing some size 6 month clothes, which just seems sad and wrong because my baby girl shouldn't be that big yet!
Little Love is such a happy, smiley girl.
She will give huge smiles to anyone who takes the time to smile and talk to her, which completely delights all the girls down here at Kaleo. Layla is very popular and gets passed around a lot because everyone wants to see her smile!
She's still eating and sleeping well. She eats on average every 3 hours during the day, although sometimes she only makes it 2 1/2 and other times she'll stretch to 4. She's still not an incredible napper, although she usually takes at least one really good, solid nap each day. For about 3 weeks she was on an amazing night sleeping schedule - she'd go to bed between 8 and 8:30 and then sleep till anywhere from 2:30 to 5:30 before waking up to eat, and then she'd go back to sleep till anywhere from 7:30 to 10. However for the past 5ish days she's been not sleeping as well at night and waking up a couple of times to eat. Not quite sure what's going on there. She's still sleeping wrapped up in her swaddle blanket, even though she frequently tries to escape.
I've been contemplating trying to transition her to sleeping not swaddled, but she wakes herself up and gets pretty mad when her arms aren't wrapped up, so I haven't taken the plunge yet. But she's also almost too long to fit into her swaddle blanket, so we'll see.
Layla's also developing some very strong neck muscles and can hold her head up pretty well almost all the time now.

Don't be fooled by that smile, here's how Layla really feels about Tummy Time:

Turn me over NOW!!!!!!! Tummy Time is over!
With her 3 month birthday approaching, this week we pulled out some new "toys" for Layla.
Layla wasn't 100% sure about the jumperoo right at first. She's still a little small for it so she has to have a pillow or book under her feet and a blanket tucked behind her, so it only lasts for 5-8 minutes at a time right now, but I'm sure she's eventually going to love it. So far she mostly just stares at the hippo and the monkey dangling from the top.
We also got out the bumbo chair for her to try sitting in.
She did pretty well but bobbled her head around quite a bit after about 5 minutes of sitting there, so it's not really long lasting at this point either, but we're getting there! Landon has been a little on the jealous side of Layla's new toys and thinks they should be for him.
Not happy about Layla being in the Bumbo
Landon couldn't wait for me to take Layla out of the Bumbo so he could have a turn.
It's a little small for you Landon! It's been hilarious watching him climb in and out of it and get stuck though.
Speaking of Landon, Layla just loves him! She loves to watch her brother and smiles at him anytime she can. Landon returns the love, depending on his mood. 80% of the time he still just ignores her, but sometimes he crouches down to look at her or tries to give her high fives. His favorite is when I change her clothes because he likes to poke her belly button. The other night he gave her so many kisses that her hair was soaked with his drool. It was very sweet but very gross.
Don't you love how they're holding their hands the same way?

Landon still is not good at taking pics with Layla or very willing to hold her, but at least this time he didn't push her away completely. It will be fun to watch them continue to interact more and more, but for now Layla will just dish out the smiles to Landon whether he returns them or not!
Layla has started to coo and blow bubbles a lot more and it is so adorable it just melts your heart.
We also are pretty sure she giggled a couple of times when Kyle was tickling her the other day. She's just so fun!
One huge difference I'm noticing between Landon & Layla now though is that by this age Landon was making these loud screeching noises - we called him pterodactyl for a long time because of how he screeched and squealed all the time. But Layla has yet to make any really loud noises like that. Maybe she's going to be a bit more chill than Landon.
Here is Landon & Layla's side by side picture! And by this point I had actually started my blog so you can read about Landon at three months too!
They look a lot alike!

Happy Three Months my beautiful girl. We love you so so much!

I can't believe she's already 3 months either! And in response to your comment on my last post- sometimes I WISH Blakely would ignore Henry. :) He'll warm up to her when it counts. Right now it's probably better that he's not interested :). Wish we were there enjoying the beach with you guys!
