One of the great things about the beginning of the school year is all of the "firsts" and kickoff events. Thursday night was our first large group StuMo meeting.
About 750 students came! It was so exciting and so fun. Unfortunately we had to start a half hour late because there was an activities fair in the room right before us, so pushing it back to 9:00 made for an extra late night for Landon & Layla. I was worried that they wouldn't make it, but I *desperately* wanted to go to the start of the meeting to meet people beforehand and see all the fun launch stuff. The kids were troopers and we stayed until 9:30. They were definitely tired though.
Leaving the Union with two very sleepy children! I hear the rest of the meeting was fabulous, but my children enjoyed their cribs much more =)
And last night was our welcome back kickoff cookout for students. It's hard to estimate exactly, but probably 600+ students came through to get some free hamburgers and hot dogs (what college student doesn't like free food?!) and over 300 students participated in a volleyball tournament! Good thing our former neighbor is the manager at an Eckrich Sausage plant nearby and gets the company to donate amazing sausages for the event every year. He even comes out to grill them on their massive grill for us! So if you're ever looking for a good hot dog (and trust me, their sausages are the BEST) you should buy Eckrich brand.
Landon, however, could have cared less about the hot dogs. In fact, he refused to eat anything because he was too busy loving his life getting to run around and play with the balls and frisbees.
That's one happy boy there.
Layla chilled with Bailey for awhile:
But she was tired out and cranky, so she eventually fell asleep in my arms while Kyle took Landon duty and I walked around to meet new girls. Fun times!
Here are some other fun pictures from the past week:

That last picture is what Landon colored on Saturday morning (and by morning, I actually mean like, noon, since he slept until 10:45 Saturday morning. What?!) Kyle had to go buy a textbook for his class, and right across from the bookstore is a great local donut shop called Varsity Donuts that makes all sorts of special donuts (think, maple and bacon donuts, S'mores donuts, or donuts dipped in Fruity Pebbles or crushed up Oreos). The shop also has a great seating area and little tables for kids to sit and color. So Kyle took Landon with him to pick up his book and then they went to Varsity to have donuts and color for awhile. Nothing says father/son bonding like coloring and donuts. Landon apparently had a grand time and also enjoyed eating all six of the donut holes Kyle bought for him. Boy after my own heart. Don't worry, they brought a donut back home for me. Such gentlemen =)

I bet Layla and Landon just eat up the attention of all those college students. I can't believe another school year has begun for you guys and I hope this is one of the best ones yet!
