So It Begins

The past few days have been a little crazy, because the new school year has started!
Layla dressed & ready for the first day of school!
Of course, neither of my kids are going to school, but all the college kids moved back into town Friday and Saturday and started classes yesterday. I LOVE the beginning of fall semester; our town suddenly doubles in size, and the whole place is abuzz with the excitement of all the students. Plus, just thinking about the potential of what God will do on campus in the school year gets me so, so excited, so even though it's hard to believe that it's time for another school year already, we were ready!
On Friday evening Landon, Layla, and I went to meet a big group of about 20 girls from one of the dorms at a local froyo shop. Of course they were a big hit, and I loved getting to start meeting new girls. No pics, unfortunately because I was busy keeping Landon from helping himself to extra froyo toppings.
Yesterday was an especially busy day. Once both kids were up, dressed, and fed, we were out the door!

Landon got to have a pumpkin/zucchini muffin for breakfast that a family at our church made and left for us on Sunday as a welcome back to campus. So sweet! Landon was very happy about it.
We headed over to campus to our survey booths that we have set up the first couple days of class. We dropped off some snacks to Daddy and then headed to the booth on the opposite side of campus closer to the dorm I'm spending time in this year.
I had great aspirations that I was going to get to meet a bunch of girls while they were filling out surveys, but really I mostly had to just chase Landon around to make sure he didn't run into the street or the creek right next to us.

Silly boy. Layla made sure to smile sweetly at passers-by from the stroller.
After about a half hour at the booth we ran to the grocery store to pick up stuff to make a fruit salad, and then it was home and naptime. Then at 2 we headed over to Joel & Jen's house (our head staff couple) to help get lunch ready for our staff team all tired out from standing outside at the booths all day. After some lunch everyone sorted out all the surveys from the day (we repeated doing that again today, although we didn't go to campus this morning, just over to J&J's this afternoon). Of course I wasn't really any help sorting surveys because a certain almost-two-year-old boy was running all over the place, mainly the stairs.

He had fun getting to play with Ellie and Alexa though!

Yesterday afternoon we came home after "helping" with surveys and I was hoping Landon would take another short nap, but he never fell asleep - probably my fault for messing up his morning nap schedule though (thankfully today he's in there and actually asleep I think). We had a quick dinner with Daddy and then I took the kiddos over to the dorms for about an hour to visit some friends and meet some new girls!
Pic from Kaleo!
Bailey has been in my Bible Study for the past 3 years, and this year she's an RA in the dorm that I lived in for 3 years and was an RA in for 2 years, so we went to visit her and meet girls on her floor. Landon was a huge hit with the crowd in the lobby because the guys had a soccer ball so Landon was playing catch with them and being all kinds of funny. Boo I forgot to take any pictures though. We came home in time to put the kids straight in bed last night, so I think yesterday may have been a little bit too much overload. So we're taking it a little easier today, and Landon seems grateful, as he has entertained himself playing with his toys by himself for an hour this morning.

Can't wait to see what this year holds!
