I have no idea what to entitle this post, because right now beginning it I don't actually know what it's going to be about, other than my kiddos!
Life has been buuuuuuuusy, which is why I haven't updated recently. Sweet little Layla had her first cold last week; she came down with it on Wed the 3rd and it stuck around until about last Tuesday.

She was such a champ though...she had a little trouble sleeping at night from being congested and got mad when I would suck her nose out (which was often, unfortunately) but other than that she didn't act extra fussy or crabby at all. She enjoyed all the extra warm baths she got to take.
Landon is being sillier than ever, which is tons of fun. He's also getting very proficient at a lot of his toys - he's a champion block builder, can put together his alphabet puzzle in like a minute (faster than Kyle or I can do it!) and he's finally enjoying looking at books again. Still his favorite thing to do is be outside, of course, so this Thursday we went to a nearby park for an hour - not the one closest to us but a different one that had MUCH better playground equipment for his age...I think we'll go there more often.
He had the time of his life, and Layla also enjoyed the fresh air. We also met some new friends while we were there who we found out also happen to go to our church! Fun!
Earlier that day Landon was being uncharacteristically nice to Layla, and actually wanted to hold her. So I got the first GOOD picture of the two of them ever in their lives.
Layla has started doing some somewhat uncoordinated crawling on top of her army scooting, and the whole living room/dining room has now become her jungle gym.

Since Landon wants to go outside all the time we decided he needed to make himself useful so we convinced him that picking up the crabapples out of the front yard was a game.
He's kinda slow going at it though, so yesterday Kyle took an hourish to go out and pick up ELEVEN bucketfuls of crab apples (real buckets, not Landon's mini bucket). Who decided to plant a crab apple tree in our front yard?! Ridiculous! At least make it real apples that we could have eaten! Worthless...
Landon has also been enjoying bath times a lot lately due to his new discovery of bubble bath and bathtub crayons. As soon as he sits down in the tub he points up to the cabinet where I keep them and says, "Colors? Colors?" So cute.

Landon is also being very nice recently and giving Layla kisses. Except he gives her full open mouth kisses and I'm afraid he's going to bonk her head with his teeth...
In other news, my woooooonderful cousin Julie & her husband Austen came over to babysit the kiddos last night so Kyle and I could go on a date, and we had almost a full 3 hours together!!! We went to get sushi at our favorite local sushi place...

| Unbelievably delicious...I already want to go back |
Then we went to our favorite local coffee shop for coffee and dessert...

| Lemon strawberry scone for Kyle, pumpkin white chocolate scone for me! |
While we were sitting at the outdoor table of the coffee shop, a group of 25ish people dressed up as zombies walked by. Creepy. I really don't understand the whole zombie fascination or zombie walk phenomenon. At least not in Manhattan. Go back to Lawrence, people.
Nonetheless, it was a PERFECT date!
There's an update on us! Hope you all are enjoying the beautiful, wonderful autumn season!

Long date nights are my favorite ways to catch up with Jeremy. I wish he ate sushi though...
And I love that you guys put Landon to work collecting crab apples. I bet that keeps him busy for hours =)
