Life with my Loves: Layla

There she is, older than ever at 11 months! Layla Love, you officially need to stop growing up!

When Landon saw me taking Layla's pictures he came sprinting over, dove onto the couch and started saying, "Cheese! Cheese!"

But now, onto the star of this post!

Facts about Eleven-Month-Old-Layla :

* Sleep: Goes to bed around 8-8:30 p.m., sleeps till 6:15 (almost like clockwork everyday), eats, then goes back to sleep till 7:30-8 a.m. Takes two naps a day, sometimes 3. Usually for 1-2 hours each.

* Foods: Still eats baby food fruits but starting to not like pureed veggies anymore. She's just so interested in people food! She's trying more and more of our foods and feeding herself more finger foods like cubed up sweet potato, squash, bites of toast, and of course Cheerios. She's still a sucker for the Baby Mum-Mums though. She has her two bottom teeth in and is working on more I think, so she also loves chewing on cold pieces of apple in her baby mesh net food thing.

* Clothes: In mostly 12 month clothes now, although a few 9 month outfits still fit. Size 3 diapers. She's still a skinny little thing!

* Skills: loves to wave, speed crawler, cruises around furniture all over the place, stands alone for several seconds (when she'll hold still enough and not immediately dive after something). I'm happy to report that she is NOT walking yet; when she did everything so early I was nervous that she would start walking crazy early, and I'm just not ready for her to be toddling along after Landon and get knocked over by her tornado brother all the time. I did finally bring out the little push walk along toy last week so she can start practicing and she loooooooves walking around behind that thing. I'm sure it won't be too long now, and I'm ok with that.

* Likes: Mommy; following Landon around everywhere; making messes; looking at books; taking things in and out of boxes; crawling behind the couch; making people laugh; mornings; dancing to music; babbling & squealing; being outside; eating crayons (not approved); bath time; playing with whatever toy Landon is trying to play with.

* Dislikes: being ignored by Landon; being pushed over by Landon; the end of food/snack time; being left with babysitters; evenings after she's tired; sudden loud noises (like a group of people laughing all at the same time suddenly).

Layla is getting really good at playing and entertaining herself (well, when Landon is sleeping. If he's awake she just gets herself into trouble getting in his way). Here's a video from her last night playing with a toy. She reminded me of a cat! Sorry, it's kind of unnecessarily long, but you get the idea!

Last night I was holding Layla putting her to bed, singing "Baby Mine" to her, and started crying at the lyrics "Rest your head close to my heart, never to part, baby of mine." I prayed that this next month goes by soooooo slowly and that I truly cherish it, because it just makes me so sad to think about Layla being one year old and entering the world of toddler-hood soon. I want my sweet baby to snuggle next to my heart forever, but I know it won't last. So I'll enjoy all the snuggling I can for now.
