Last night I had this whole entire long post all typed up, and blogger froze up and lost the whole thing. Needless to say I went to bed angry and decided to try again today :)
Can you even believe that title up there?! Because I sure can't! I can't even believe it's time to say Happy Birthday to this beautiful Little Love:
Look how teeny she was! I can't believe a whole year has passed, but lo and behold, Layla Love is one! We have her one year dr checkup on Thursday so I'll wait till then to do her official one year post, but for now I'll share about her birthday party!
We got to have Layla's party actually on her birthday on Saturday, which was so fun! We were originally going to have her party here at our house, but y cousin who is in the Navy and has been stationed in Japan for the past 3 years was having a Welcome Home party in Wichita the same day, so we decided to just throw her a party with my family down in Wichita Saturday afternoon. It was a day full of parties!
Layla was very excited to celebrate her big day!
Everyone came over to have pizza for lunch, and then before we opened presents the little Diva had a wardrobe change. (I had already made her tutu and hairbow for the party when we received a package from Kyle's mom and sister with an adorable first birthday outfit, so she just wore both!!)

Needless to say, the hat didn't last long
Watching Layla open her presents was SO fun. She was hilarious! She seemed to really understand the concept and was pulling out the tissue paper from the bags and then pulling out what was inside. She especially got VERY excited anytime it was clothes (which was most of the time, since that's what we needed most going to India for a year!) She would pull the outfits out and then I'd hold them up for her to look at. She would flap her arms, grab onto the clothes, squeal and say "Ya ya ya!!" and even clap sometimes. Seriously, ADORABLE.
Here's a little video of her opening some of her clothes:
After presents Layla was disrobed for her cake smashing experience. I had high hopes for Layla, since Landon really dove into his first year cake, and she didn't disappoint!

Wait what is this stuff?

That's pretty good...

Where has this stuff been all my life?!

I'm never eating baby food again.
However, after several bites Layla decided it would be more interesting to rip off huge chunks and smear the frosting around and just play with the cake. Cake time over.
We whisked her off to the bathtub for a proper hose down and then she rejoined her guests in her birthday outfit.
We had such a good time and we're so thankful for everyone who came to help us celebrate our birthday girl. Thanks for great memories!!
