Time Away

Over Spring Break, Kyle and I took some much needed time away.
Our parents watched the kiddos, and we took the first legit vacation we've taken in...a long time.
We saved up money we received as gifts over the past couple of years, cashed in our rewards points on our credit card, and found an incredible deal through a friend to go stay at an all inclusive resort in

CANCUN

It was amazing. As in, really, really amazing. We flew out from Kansas City at 6 a.m. on Friday morning, and arrived back in Kansas on Wednesday night. It was the perfect, relaxing, refreshing getaway that we so desperately needed after a crazy 2.5 years after having Landon, and before we embark on our next big adventure to India. We didn't go on any excursions; in fact, we didn't even leave our resort grounds. We just sat on beds on the beach reading all day long. And eating. Eating lots and lots and lots of food.
Here are pictures from our trip!
Perfection

First night's dinner: Brazilian

We had about 20 of these "Tropical Squeeze" drinks. They were just fruity smoothies but boy were they delicious

Our favorite spot on the beach

What gets better than reading on the beach? (ignore my blinding pale legs)

Infinity pool overlooking the beach

Since the resort was all inclusive I didn't feel bad being adventurous trying new foods...my first carpaccio. (not my fave, I prefer my meat cooked, thanks)

Kyle couldn't pick b/w two entrees at the seafood restaurant, so he ordered both

Entree #2 was a seafood sampler complete with octopus tentacles. I tried a bite, suction cups and all. I almost gagged.

Guacamole in Mexico, um yes.

Love of my life

Quiet times overlooking the beach every morning

On Monday we were out in the sun for way too long and I got the worst sunburn of my whole life ever, despite applying sunscreen 3 times. It hurt so.so.bad. You can see it a little in the below pic, although that doesn't even do it close to justice.

We were so sad to leave our relaxing days, but so excited to get home to see Landon & Layla. We were not excited to leave the beach to come home to snow, however (real funny, Kansas). While we were away Landon & Layla got nice and spoiled first by Kyle's parents and then by my mom. We're so thankful for them coming to watch the kids so that we could get some time with just the two of us. We're so blessed to have such incredible parents and families.
Here's some of the pictures they emailed to us while we were gone!

Grandma brough Lamar's donuts with her!!

Now we're back to the ol' grind around here. It was an incredible experience though and I'm so thankful for my wonderful husband making time away for us. Love him!
