Recent Highlights

It's been a BUSY few weeks, so I'll give you the highlights I've missed out on blogging on recently!

* I missed Layla's 19 month post/picture. Oops. Sorry, Layla!

* A couple of weeks ago I got to go to our Wives Retreat for all of the wives on staff here in India! We all met at a hotel in Hyderabad for 4 days, and it was gloriously fun and refreshing. Yes, that means I traveled/flew BY MYSELF in India for the first time! And survived! And yes, that means Kyle watched both Landon and Layla alone. By himself. In India. And he lived to tell about it! He even gave Landon a hair cut while I was gone!

* While I was gone, Kyle got Landon hooked on watching YouTube videos. Mostly this one channel of videos of guys doing extreme sports (thanks, honey) but the #1 video Landon is hooked on is this ridiculous fox music video that's become an internet sensation. One of the guys on our team, Collin, takes the blame for this one because he's the one who introduced Kyle/Landon to the video in the first place. The song/video is completely dumb, and weird, and pointless, but watching Landon dance/sing to it is one of the funniest things ever in the world, so I like the video now! What's really funny, is that he does that exact same dance routine every time he watches the video. It's a part of the song that gets really slow, so he starts doing that move at the beginning, then it starts slowly building back up so he starts running in place (or around the room) and when the beat finally breaks, he raises his hand and starts booty dropping - every time!! It is our greatest form of entertainment right now.

* Landon's other new talent is that he can sing Jesus Loves Me by himself now!

* Layla is trying really hard to learn how to take selfies on my phone.

I finally helped her aim the camera at herself on that last one.

* My amazing blog friend Courtney sent me a package here in India!!! I was SO pumped when I saw the package sitting on the table after I got home from walking to the market to get fruits/veggies that morning. She sent me a candle from Bath and Body Works that smells heavenly like autumn, and she also sent one of those adorable Anthropologie monogram mugs. Unfortunately, India doesn't really follow mailing rules like "Fragile" stamps...

Didn't know if I'd have the heart to reveal this pic to you, Courtney

 So, sadly, the anthropology mug didn't make it quite in one piece. The thought still definitely meant the WORLD to me though, and the candle was salvageable, and it brings me so much joy to have our flat smell like autumn!!!

* For wives retreat, one of the women on staff back in the US came to give our talks, and she was awesome! Before she came she also contacted close friends of each of ours to put together a goodie bag to bring over to each of us of things that we would love from America. Jen and Alissa put together the best goodie "bag" with fall decorations, Starbucks Via packs, candy for the kids, and sweet cards from all of the staff girls at KSU! It made me sooooo happy. So I put my candle from Courtney together along with my new fall decorations, and Voila!

The tray was actually a gift from the girls on our team here! So I can properly serve Indian chai ;)

 Even though it's still 80-90 degrees out and all the leaves are still green, it looks (and smells!) a little bit like Kansas October in our India flat :)

Oh, and it also tastes a little like fall...

Shout out to the person who invented Starbucks Via packs. You made the world a better place.
