Keeping the Kids Busy

Thought I'd show you a few of the things we've been doing to keep Landon and Layla busy while we're in our flat the majority of almost every day!

As a sidenote, we're working on getting us out more...I'm in process of completing our driving track to earn my freedom to be able to drive. We have a 3 step track that you have to test out of - 6 hours of driving time in our neighborhood streets, then you get passed out of that and the area widens to include two of the main roads that are well divided/organized and more neighborhoods. Once you drive in that track for 6 hours you get passed out of that, and then you can drive anywhere in the city alone. After 6 hours, you can get cleared to drive anywhere with other people in the car! I completed track one already and am a half hour into track 2, so we'll see how long it takes! Although it's scary driving here, I'm eager to have the independence to actually drive the kids to the park or go to the grocery store by myself. Freedom, here I come!

In the meantime, here's what the kiddos like to do indoors:
Making forts to "sleep" in
I'm trying to do semi-educational things with Landon while Layla is napping some days. This was his first time practicing tracing lines (apparently these are "pre-writing skills." Keep in mind I was a Secondary education major teaching Shakespeare).

I helped him on the first few lines of some of them to help him get the idea, but the last purple one he did all by himself! I drew a star and told him it was a really good one :)

 Playing with the laundry basket...

Creating a "garage" for the cars out of blocks

Dropping pom pom balls thru the paper towel roll
Creating driving tracks on delivery boxes.
Or ramps

Playing with a big bowl of dry chickpeas

Learning how to use glue sticks

Playing with stickers!
This was the day we went for a walk outside and came back dripping sweat, because it's still 85+ degrees here!

Playing with the bowl of water is one of their favorite things to do, and so easy with marble floors!
They always love Play-Doh.

But, let's be honest, I can only be creative for so long, so they also watch lots of movies (don't judge! When you don't have a backyard, or grass for that matter, to send them out to play, you can only do so many activities in one room before we're all going crazy!)
And they're just so cute sitting there watching movies! Thankfully Landon is expanding his repertoire of movies that he likes, so we're getting more variety. He still asks for "Monkey" first every time, but we usually tell him no. His newest favorites are The Incredibles and Beauty and the Beast (yes!!)

I love hanging out with these two!
