There's our little four month old Beauty! She had to spend her 4 month birthday in the car on Tuesday, so we waited to take her pictures till the next day so she'd be in a better mood=)
It's hard to believe that Layla is 4 months old already. On the one hand, it feels impossible that she's that big, but on the other hand it's hard to remember life before she was here! We've got quite the little lady on our hands.
Layla has such a sweet disposition and is so quick to offer a huge smile (unless she's hungry and tired, and then she lets you know when she's MAD!) She makes the sweetest little cooing sounds and just sounds like a little GIRL!
I already mentioned that Layla rolled over from tummy to back a couple of weeks ago on June 19th. That was already way ahead of Landon, who didn't roll over till he was 4 1/2 months old. Well Layla decided that still wasn't enough to keep up with her busy brother and decided to start rolling over from back to tummy on June 30th, which Landon didn't do till he was 5 1/2 months old! I'm proud of her but a little sad that I can't count on her staying stationary in one place anymore already. Little over achiever.
She's still struggling a little bit on the sleep spectrum. Some nights she'll do well and sleep for 5 or 6 hours at a time, and then there's nights like 2 nights ago when she wakes up every 3 hours. AHHHHH! It's driving me batty, but her pediatrician said today that he would wait a couple more months before really letting her cry it out, and because she's having trouble not having bowel movements very frequently he said he wouldn't start her on cereal yet. He suggested some herbs I can try to increase my milk supply and said to try stretching out her day time feedings to 3 1/2-4 hours to see if that will help her stretch at night, but other than that, I just have to get up and feed her.
I have discovered that she really likes to be laid on her side to sleep.
I know you're supposed to put babies on their backs to sleep, but since she can roll herself over already I decided putting her on her side wouldn't hurt anything.
Good thing she's just soooooo cute and cuddly with all this sleep nonsense.
I took the above picture to document the enormous scratch she gave herself (have I mentioned I hate trimming her nails?) but look at those amazing BLUE eyes! One of many differences between her and Landon.
She's slowly but surely winning Landon over. Here he is giving her a kiss.
Doesn't she look excited? She loves to watch Landon play and he's loving her more and more. I'm starting to notice a lot of differences between the two of them.
* Their eye color - Layla has such light blue eyes vs. Landon's dark brown eyes!
* That cute video of Layla sweetly cooing away up there? Landon at this age had been wildly screeching for over a month, so much so that we called him our little pterodactyl.
* At 4 months, Landon LOVED the jumperoo and only sort of liked sitting in the Bumbo chair. Layla is just the opposite
| Loves the Bumbo! |
| Only likes the jumperoo |
* The biggest difference is in their physical makeup. At 4 months, Landon was 25 inches long (54th percentile) and 16 lbs 14 oz (74th percentile). Layla has those percentiles switched and is 25 inches long (76th percentile) and only 13 lbs 15 oz (56th percentile). Those extra three pounds on the same length of body made a big difference!!
Isn't that funny? I really think they're starting to look pretty different now. My chunky boy vs. my petite girl!
We love you Pretty Girl!

She is so beautiful! And looking more like a baby than a new born. I bet you can get more stuff done now. Or not? I know the first 3months were awful for me. And I still think they look like twins in their 4 month pictures!
She gets prettier by the DAY!!! I love the comparison btwn Landon and Layla's stats. So fun! Can't wait to see you in a month or so! :)
