Layla - 9 Months

We're officially three quarters of the way through our first year with this girl!! It's hard to believe that Layla has now been alive for as many months as I was pregnant with her.

Isn't she ridiculously cute?
And look how ridiculously cute this outfit is that I got for her on clearance at Target for $4.20!!
Kyle rolled his eyes when I told him I lost all self control at Target and bought this (along with two onesies and a pair of pants). But really, it would have been CRIMINAL for me to have let this one go for that cheap of a price!

Ok, back to Layla.
Miss Nine Months is all.over.the.place. Speed crawling, pulling up, "walking" while holding onto our hands, and starting to take a few steps cruising around the furniture (no major walking the whole length of the couch yet, just a few steps). She can also stand on her own without holding onto anything for like 3-5 seconds (if she's paying attention). If she notices something on the floor while she's standing up holding onto something, she can bend down to pick it up and stand back up. At nine months old Landon had just barely started pulling up on stuff and still wasn't crawling yet!
Over achiever
At the doctor today Layla was 28.25 inches long (73rd percentile) and weighed 17 lbs. 9 oz. (26th percentile). She just keeps getting skinnier! The doctor wasn't at all concerned by her weight percentile continuing to drop though; he said she looks great and healthy and as long as she's eating well it's perfectly normal.
Speaking of eating, Layla definitely does it well! She's eating solid foods 2-3x per day plus 1-2 bowls of cereal. She looooooooooves to eat. She also loves snacks - little Puffs and the Rice Rusk/cup things are the #1 way to keep her happy if she's in a bad mood.

Layla is my little early to bed girl. The past couple of weeks she's been ready for bed by 7:30...I debate whether or not to try to keep her up longer. On the one hand, I want her to sleep later in the morning, but on the other hand, she's a miserable human being when I force her to stay up later, which makes the rest of us miserable. Still debating. She usually sleeps till around 5ish then eats, and then goes back to sleep till 7ish. She's getting a little better at napping and usually at least one of her two naps is 2 hrs long. Some days if she's taken short naps she'll take a short 3rd nap in the evening.

Layla babbles all the time - she says mama, dada, baba, and yaya. Or she just squeals. Or growls. Or recently she's started just really softly blowing air out of her mouth and thinks it's hilarious.

There's a bright side and a down side to the fact that Layla has become a super Mama's girl. The bright side, of course, is that I love that she loves me, and I love being with her! The down side is that it makes it tough to leave her with babysitters or for other people to hold her. We're working on that :)

Here is the comparison of Layla and Landon at 9 months!
They both have the same kissable cheeks!! Layla still has way less hair than Landon did (what's the deal, for real?!)
Crazy to think that when Landon turned nine months old, we were in INDIA! It's so weird that he was this age when we were over there...

And now, another photo bomb of Layla's cuteness, because I'm incapable of filtering and narrowing down picture choices.

Still loves carrying her socks around in her mouth

Doesn't that look uncomfortable?!

Discovered the joy of crawling behind the couch

First time playing on the ground outside

"Yeah right I'm not staying on that blanket!"

Does life get more beautiful than this?

"What's for dinner, Mom?"

"MOOOOOOM!"
Love you my Layla Bug!
