Thanksgiving+

So, it's December, and I'm finally posting about Thanksgiving.
Ahhh, sorry I keep getting so behind! Life around these parts has been crazy ya'll. Seriously. So crazy I just suddenly started talking like a Southerner.

Moving on. We had a great Thanksgiving with my family in Wichita! Of course, true to Tracy fashion, I neglected to take very many pictures, seeing as it was Layla's first holiday and all. Someday I'll start remembering to actually take pictures when it's important.
During the few days we were there we had lots of fun with family, spent lots of time outside enjoying the beautiful weather, and of course at lots of good food.

Alycen actually wanted to join Landon & Kyle on the couch!
Since it was sooooo beautiful outside, on Wednesday we actually took all the kids to the zoo! It was perfect.
Checking out the penguins

In the rainforest!
This was Kyle's first time at the Sedgwick County Zoo. He mocks me every time I tell him it's the greatest zoo ever and blames it on my overly inflated "Wichita pride." But really, it's the best zoo ever.
We didn't get pictures of all the animals, but Landon's favorite ones were the giraffes. He got really excited watching them!

While we were all home my parents also wanted to attempt to get a picture of them with all the grandkids for their Christmas card. I set my phone camera on rapid fire and came away with about 100 pictures. Hopefully there was a good one in there somewhere.

Let's face it, it's hard to get two adults, two small children, and two babies all looking and smiling at the same time. Especially in the evening when it's getting close to bed time.
Landon's highlight of Thanksgiving was that Grandpa bought him and Alycen like 4 dozen donut holes from Lamar's (the greatest donut shop...man Wichita is such a hot spot for great places!!). For four days after we came home he kept waking up saying, "Grandpa? Nonuts?"

After we got home last weekend we put up Christmas decorations! That definitely marks the best time of year!

Finished product! Our tree looks kind of ridiculous because all of the ornaments are clustered in the top 3 feet, then there's a big gap of nothing, and then Landon's four duck ornaments at the bottom. Oh well, I guess that's what Christmas is like when you have small children!
My parents bought a set of the little KSU duck ornaments for Landon and they're perfect for him because he can play with them without breaking them!
Landon also has two personal trees, one little tree that was our very first Christmas tree we had in our apartment. I set it up in Landon's room this year.

He really doesn't understand how to put ornaments on with the hooks, so finally I just took all the hooks off and he just sets them up in the branches (which kind of works)
He also likes to throw them, probably because they're balls. So we'll see if this lasts all month.

I also made a little felt tree and ornaments to put on the wall in our dining room so he could play with that instead of our real tree.
Unfortunately the masking tape I used to secure it to the wall wasn't so secure, and when we got home this afternoon from KC the tree was lying on the floor and the tape was all still stuck to the wall. Boo. Open to suggestions for better non-permanent ways to stick the tree to the wall!!

Whew, that's it! Layla turned 9 months old today but her doctor appt is on Wednesday so check back for her update!!

I love the idea of having a smaller Christmas tree in the kid's rooms for them to decorate. Looks like you guys had a great Thanksgiving together, can't wait to see how Layla's update goes!
