Layla - 10 Months

Check it out! I'm 10 Months old!!

We spent Layla's 10 month birthday in Oklahoma City at SMC, our annual winter conference, so we're a few days late on Layla's pictures and monthly update. But she didn't mind because she had 1500 adoring fans paying attention to her all last week :)

But time has marched on yet again and here we have a ten month old girl!

"What paper? I didn't touch anything. I don't know what you're talking about..."

This crazy active girl is getting harder and harder to take her monthly pictures because she doesn't like being told to sit still on the loveseat anymore.

A certain 10 month old girl just woke up a little early from her nap, so I'll try to keep this concise so I can finish while she's still happily talking back in her bed!

* Layla is sleeping through the night still (yay!) Shortly after her 9 month post I was able to get her to stay up a little later again, so she goes to bed around 8-8:30. She sleeps till 6 or 7 before she wakes up to eat and sometimes goes back to sleep till 8 or 8:30 a.m. or sometimes just stays up if it's after 7. Usually she wakes up once during the night and I have to go give her back her pacifier but she goes back to sleep. She's getting better at taking naps and usually takes one morning and one afternoon nap for roughly 1.5 hours each. Every few days she needs a short third nap in the late afternoon/early evening to keep a cheerful disposition.

* Layla loves food. She lives for snacks. If she's having a bad day, give her a snack, and the world is suddenly right again. Her favorites are the little Puffs and these Rice Rusks:

She gets soooooo excited when you hand her the mum-mums. Too bad they're so expensive!

* She's also starting to take bites of real people food. Mostly whatever she finds on the floor that Landon has dropped (kidding!...sort of) She had a few bites of my manicotti at a restaurant at SMC and thought it was delicious. However, she gags and cries any time I've tried to feed her the baby foods with meat in them. I can't really blame her considering I want to gag looking at/smelling them.

* Layla is still a lightening speed crawler, pulls up on everything (even when it's unbalanced and not a good idea) and cruises all over the place around the edges of furniture.

* She can "walk" while holding onto your fingers and can stand on her own for a few seconds at a time if she's paying attention and not lunging for a toy.

* We've got another dancer on our hands. She loves to hold onto furniture and "booty drop" when music comes on.

* She officially associates "Ma Ma" with me. I can't tell if she associates "Da Da" with Kyle yet or not.

* Miss Diva is all about having an audience to witness her milestones, so accordingly her first tooth broke through on Christmas Eve when she had lots of family to oo and ahh over it, and she learned to wave the day we went down to SMC, much to the delight of all the students there. She loved getting such happy reactions from people when she would wave at them, so she started just perpetually waving as we would walk around even if no one was around. It got to the point that when I had her packed up in her stroller and opened the door of our hotel room to go out, she would immediately start waving as soon as the door was open. Ridiculous.

* You know when you pat your hand over a baby's mouth while they go "Ahhhhh" and it makes a funny sound? Layla loves doing that to herself. She sticks her fist over her mouth and wiggles it back and forth while saying "Ahhhh" and it.is.hilarious. Still trying to get it on video though. She also loves to shake her head back and forth and make people laugh. 

* Layla likes to growl, sing, and really lightly blow air out of her mouth. She also giggles and babbles nonstop.

 - Sidenote: of course I couldn't keep this concise so Layla is now in the living room with me playing with toys. She just growled and shook her head at me -

* Layla still thinks Landon walks on water and just follows him around everywhere and mimics whatever he's doing, much to his displeasure.

We love bathtime!

I mean, for real, look how much more hair Landon had. Although Layla's hair is finally starting to get long...in the back. Does nothing for bows though.
