Or at least that's the equation we came up with that would make sense. For awhile Landon was doing great about going to bed around 10:30 and then sleeping till 5:00ish without waking up, eating and then going back to sleep for a few more hours. But then all of a sudden he had a couple week streak of waking up and crying between 1:30 and 3 every night. We would give him back his pacifier 5 times, we'd let him cry, finally one night I just fed him because we decided he was just hungry.
So then, we came up with the brilliant cereal idea. He's old enough to start solid foods, and although I don't yet want to start him eating a variety of solid foods till he's 6 months, we decided that a bowl of cereal right before bed wouldn't hurt anything, and could certainly help us out on the sleep problem. So last Tuesday, February 8, Landon had his first bowl of Rice Cereal.
The instructions said to make it basically make it liquid, so he had a kind of hard time with the eating liquid off a spoon, but he seemed to really like it. He didn't turn his nose up or purposely spit it out. He did make a mess though!!
The first couple of times I made it very liquidy, but then about the 3rd time he had cereal I started making it a little thicker, more porridge like, and he seemed to have a much easier time actually keeping it in his mouth long enough to swallow it.
Not that we should be surprised, since he's been a great eater since day one, and obviously isn't lacking for food, but he is a GREAT cereal eater! We just give it to him once right before bed at night, but he eats the whole bowl and actually keeps *most* of it in his mouth now. He REALLY loves it; I can hardly keep shoveling it in his mouth fast enough. And the best part is...it worked. He's now back to sleeping till about 5:30 in the morning, and that makes mom happy. Very happy.
My good boy :)
