Can you even believe it? My sweet, sweet boy turned two on Wednesday. He truly is my little boy now; the toddler days are gone.
For his two year birthday I wanted so badly for him to take a picture holding a "Two Years" sign, but you can all guess how well that went.
*sigh*
Maybe we'll try again when Kyle's around to help make him smile.
Landon slept in till 9:30 on his birthday and of course I sang Happy Birthday to him when I went in to get him up. He didn't really understand what was going on, of course, but he just kept saying "Ok! Ok!"
I had made chocolate chip pumpkin muffins the day before so he got a muffin with candles to blow out for breakfast.
He still didn't understand the idea of blowing out the candles. He just wanted to touch the flames. No good!
Then we met Kyle over at Sonic for lunch and let Landon play on the playground. Kyle even rode down the big twisty slide with him! (sorry, no pictures, I forgot my phone at home then)
Landon took a good nap in the afternoon, and then we had dinner together before Landon went to Awanas for the first time at our church that evening. After Awanas he got to have another small piece of his birthday cake with more candles that he still didn't blow out.
This two year old boy is extremely busy. He keeps us on our toes all the time!
He's rarely sitting still, and loves to make messes. He still loooooooooooves to be outside, and has started throwing his worst temper tantrums when he wants to go outside and we tell him no.
He has also been having fun playing with all his new stuff he got for his birthday.

We don't have Landon's two year check up till next Friday, so his growth stats will have to wait, but here are some highlights of being two!
* Landon loves to dance and climb. And doing the two together is even better.
* He is also talking more and more, and starting to voluntarily say a lot more words, or point things out when he sees them (cars going by, grass, apples are some of his favorites). And of course, he's as chatty as ever.
* Landon is starting to eat less/become a more picky eater. My wonderful vegetable eater is now no where to be found - gone are the days of loving broccoli, peas, green beans or sweet potatoes. I still offer him vegetables plain to try to get him to eat them, but he typically doesn't, so I've resorted to hiding them in things (with varying degrees of success). The sweet potato muffins I made have turned out to be an awesome breakfast way to get veggies in his diet (in fact that's what he's eating in the above video). I've also tried pureeing spinach to spread on homemade pizza or stir into spaghetti sauce.
I'm sure I'll continue exploring mixing pureed veggies into foods, which is convenient since I'm making them for Layla anyway. I've also started giving him some of the juice that has a serving of vegetables along with the fruit juice and he likes that. I also started giving him a gummy multivitamin each day this week since he's not eating veggies as well (maybe that was his plan to start getting a "fruit snack" everyday...)
* Landon has officially changed his sleeping schedule. He's down to just taking a nap in the afternoon now. The first couple weeks of the transition was pretty rough; he wasn't sleeping later in the morning or longer for his nap than when he was taking two naps, so he was getting pretty crabby. Thankfully over the past week he's starting to do a better job. The past several days he's slept until 9-9:30 in the morning (after going to bed anywhere between 8 and 9 p.m., although he doesn't fall asleep right away because he talks to himself for awhile) and for his nap in the afternoon he's been sleeping about 3 hours on average. So although I still miss those couple of hours of productivity in the mornings, we're getting the hang of this new schedule and enjoying being able to go places more often in the mornings.
* Landon is not the greatest big brother in the world at the current time. He's getting lots of practical lessons in sharing everyday, since Layla scoots and rolls her way to wherever he is and wants to play with whatever he's playing with.
Poor Layla. She loves him so much, and he just doesn't really like her very much right now. Oh well, I know this too shall pass and they'll be bffs eventually. A two year old boy just doesn't have much use for a nosy 6 month old sister, I suppose =)
We sure love you Landon and we can't believe two whole years have flown by. Life before you is hard to remember!
