Layla - Six Months

There she is, the cutest little six month old girl!

Unfortunately, I got zero good six month pictures of her, because a certain someone noticed the sign for the first time this month.

I also had the added obstacle of Landon suddenly thinking he should be the one taking the picture by the sign.

I finally decided to try laying her on the floor next to the sign but that still didn't turn out great.

Please notice the chunk she bit out of the corner of the sign.

We had Layla's six month check up today, and according to our pediatrician, she's a supermodel! She was 27.5 inches long, which is the 95th percentile, but she only weighed 15 lbs. 8 oz., which is the 39th percentile!! Wow!! I knew she was a petite skinny girl, but that seems crazy. After all, Landon at six months was also 27.5 inches long (83rd percentile) but he weighed 18 lbs. 6.8 oz. (67th percentile). So he was still about 3 pounds heavier than Layla is.

The doctor didn't have a lot of answers for Layla's poor sleeping habits, but he said she could be one of the rare ones who really is hungry and needing those extra calories at night given how long she is. But he did say to start letting her cry again for 10-15 minutes at night before getting up to feed her, and if she's not sleeping through the night (8-10 hrs) by October 1st I'm supposed to call him. According to him starting her on solid foods during the day won't make a difference with her sleeping at night, but I'm still holding out hope that it will.

My sweet Layla Love is such a fun six month old! She is incredibly active and rolls and scoots allll over the place.

Here she was playing on our bedroom floor the other day.

Apparently the dresser was much more interesting than the blanket I laid her on. In fact, I really don't know why I lay her on a blanket anymore because she never ever stays on it.

 She keeps getting so close to crawling, it's very unnerving. Please just stay still, Layla!

It doesn't help that she just gets so bound and determined to get to whatever it is Landon is playing with. She sure loves her big brother.

Layla has also fully discovered her VOICE! She still isn't quite as loud as Landon was at her age, but she loves to make noise.

Layla loves playing with toys, but I have to be careful which ones I give her because she mostly likes to flail them around.

We've had a few too many instances of her whacking herself in the face with something hard and then freaking out.

She's also very, very giggly. I just love listening to her laugh.

Here are a few other fun facts:

* Layla is wearing six month clothes, despite how long she is she hasn't quite outgrown them yet. Then again, dresses probably are more forgiving in length than pants would be.

* She's also still been wearing size 2 diapers, although I'm contemplating switching her to size 3 - they just seem so huge on her!

* She can't sit up completely on her own yet, but she's getting better at holding herself up for a few seconds at a time. Her biggest problem is she gets distracted by a toy and dive bombs for it.

* Lately she has started snuggling into my shoulder and falling asleep after eating when I burp her at night. It's so sweet and I love it.

* Layla always has HUGE smiles for her Daddy. She lights up when Kyle comes home. However, when she's tired or upset, she's 100% a Mama's girl.

Happy Half Birthday my beautiful supermodel sweetheart! I can't believe you're six months old already, and I hope the next six months go by very, very slowly! Love you, Layla.
