I know I just wrote a post yesterday, but I had to be sure to get this up before Little Miss arrives! (which hopefully will still not be for several days, but I'm in panic nesting/get ready mode in case she comes sooner). So don't miss my post from yesterday with the pictures of cute onesies and hair bows from the baby shower. But today, we're celebrating the fact that Landon turned 17 months old yesterday!!
He was in a really good picture taking mood today, giving me cheesy smiles and showing off all his teeth!
| Super ornery smile. You should have heard the goofy sound he was making for this picture |

It's hard to believe that another month has flown by to get us here to 17 months. And even more hard to believe that this will be Landon's last month update before he's a big brother! So for one last time he gets the spotlight all to himself.
Landon weighs about 26 pounds and is wearing size 18 month clothes (although a couple of his shirts are too small to fit over his big head!) He's still my champion sleeper, sleeping for 12-13 hours at night and taking either two naps for 2+ hours each or one nap for 3+ hours, depending on what time he wakes up in the morning.
And I still think he's such a cute, sweet sleeper!!
His tooth count is up to 9 teeth that have broken through enough that I can feel them (3 of those are molars) but I can see at least 3 more teeth close to the surface. So he's chewing on his fingers a lot recently.
During month 17 Landon suffered his first illness, had his first round of antibiotics, and had his first side effect reaction to said antibiotics and broke out in a horrible rash all over his legs and arms. Our doctor said he doesn't necessarily think Landon is allergic to the drug, that it was just a side effect, so he'll probably try giving it to him again in another year or so before it gets permanently marked down that he's allergic to amoxicillan (I know I definitely didn't spell that right).
Landon is running around like crazy now and has excellent balance (most of the time). He's also very into climbing, whether it's holding our hands and climbing back and forth over our outstretched legs when we're sitting on the floor, or whether it's taking advantage of boxes or toys to try to climb up on the couches. Or attempting to climb onto the bottom shelf of the bookshelf, which is always swiftly denied by me.
Here's one of his favorite places to hang out:
We got a new shoe organizer to have by the front door and he loves taking the shoes out and we've tried to cheer for him and make it a fun game to actually put them back in the slots. He also likes to try on pairs of Dad's shoes here, or just bang on the wall with his hands or his head (yes, his head *sigh*). Or he'll just chill there and watch me in the kitchen!
Unfortunately Landon is also entering his testing boundaries phase. He'll look right at me while reaching his hand out to touch something he's not supposed to just to see what I'll do. He tends to laugh the first couple of times he's told no, which is funny but very NOT funny. And he seems mostly immune to the hand pinch; it doesn't seem to hurt enough to associate "no" with negative reinforcement. What a lovely stage for him to be starting right before his sister is born!

Landon is still an excellent eater. His newly discovered favorite food is kiwi. He loooooves it. And he's always excited to drink his milk. In the morning when we come out to the kitchen I hand him his milk over the gate and unless there is someone/something major to distract him, he stands still in one place and drinks the entire thing without moving.
He's starting to become much more of a dilly-dally-er when he's drinking his milk before bed though. I think he's just being silly.
Landon still gets excited to sit and watch movies with us, and we still like snuggling with him. And he still LOVES looking at books, and is even getting better at turning around to sit down in your lap instead of just lunging at you (although he still does that a lot too).
Landon still isn't saying many words (still only Dada, Mama, All done, Yay, Wow, Whoa, Moo) but he talks ALL the time. I'll actually be a little bit sad when he starts talking for real, because his jabbering is so adorable. Here he is "reading" a book to Daddy tonight:
We're sure smitten with our sweet boy. He's been the greatest first born child we could have asked for; he has spoiled us like crazy with his good sleeping, good eating, and happy temperament. We've been so grateful for these past 17 months with Landon, and I fully intend on soaking up and loving every last moment I have with only him, not knowing how long it will be!

Happy 17months sweet baby! What a total sweetheart he is. And I am so jealous that he is still taking his two naps! Giada almost never does, and lately even her one hr nap has been short.
