Help From Grandma

Hello Blog World! Sorry for the recent absence, but it was due to my mom being in town the past few days to help me get some things done around the house etc. before Baby Girl arrives!
We had a busy but fun few days - she got here Tuesday and just left this afternoon. We did some general cleaning, including my mom vacuuming twice for me in the 3 days she was here, which is the greatest help ever since I HATE vacuuming. She loves it, so it works out great for me.
We made and froze lots of bierocks (ground beef, onion & cabbage wrapped in homemade bread) to have on hand for easy, yummy meals.
My also pregnant sister will also be benefiting from this activity since Mom is taking half of them to her next weekend! My mom also browned up a few pounds of hamburger and froze them in three gallon freezer bags so I can pull them out to make quick meals after baby is born.Yay!
We did lots of shopping at WalMart for groceries and also picked up what we need for the curtains in both Landon's and Little Miss' room. We dusted/cleaned the newly painted girl room and put the furniture back in place (pictures to come soon, I promise! Just want to put a few more things in order first).
We sorted through two tubs of baby girl clothes that my sister-in-law gave me to sort the sizes and get all the newborn clothes washed & put away. Landon was especially helpful with this project.
He thought the two tubs of clothes (plus the big box of diapers from Grandma) were his personal jungle gym in the living room. It started off with him half climbing on and immediately easing himself off, to the above video, to eventually standing up on the box and doing a dance. Good thing Grandma was holding on tight!

We of course had to go to Target and just browse the baby girl clothes
One of the cute shirts I added to my registry!
Landon had lots of fun playing with Grandma, especially while Daddy & Mommy got to go on a date on Wednesday! He also had fun playing on Grandpa's new I-Pad (so did I - Mom and I played several games of Scrabble!)
Thanks Grandpa for letting Grandma bring it along!
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) my mom's visit coincided with Landon's first time being sick with a fever. He had a really bad cold once when he was about 4 months old, but he's never run a fever before. During the night Wed night/Thurs morning I heard him cough a really nasty congested cough a few times, and then he continued to be congested all day Thursday. We went to Target after dinner on Thursday so we could pick up a humidifier for his room overnight, and by the time we got home he was staring into space and had a 101.4 fever. Poor boy - although you would never have known he wasn't feeling well at Target; he was such a good shopper! He had kind of a rough time sleeping last night from all the congestion, so between getting up with him 4 or 5 times and the fact that we had a full blown lightening, thunder, pouring rain storm last night, I didn't get a lot of sleep! Glad Grandma was here to help with my Little Punkin' though. (He's still congested today but not really running a fever. In fact I hear him waking up from his 3 1/2 hour nap right now!)
We're so glad Grandma came to help/visit and we miss her already! Thanks Grandma!

P.S. Poll to the moms (or anyone) out there - what kind of thermometer do you use/recommend? I have a cheap ear one but I don't think it's accurate (last night we had to pin Landon down to do one under his arm to get an accurate temp - not the easiest for a very squirmy & crying toddler). Do you recommend the ear or the forehead swipe ones?

Don't you just love moms? They are so awesome at coming to help and organize things when you feel like you're going crazy.
And I hate vacuuming too, with a passion so if anyone ever volunteers I will happily hand that job over =)

We use an armpit one, but make sure it's one that does it fast. Ours SAID it would be fast, but it was untrue (or had a different opinion of fast). The boys are used to it now...
Does he still have a fever? If it hangs on, I'd get his little ears checked. In the meantime, you can rotate the tylenol/motrin...hope he feels better and hope you guys get some sleep!
